Pittsburgh hires Purdue wide receivers coach Kevin Sherman
Purdue wide receivers coach Kevin Sherman has accepted the same position at Pittsburgh, according to a source.
The hiring of Sherman completes the staff of new Panthers coach Pat Narduzzi. Sherman, 46, spent the last two seasons coaching wide receivers for the Boilermakers and prior to that held the same position at Virginia Tech for seven seasons.
Sherman also coached wide receivers at Wake Forest (2001-05) and Ohio (1997-2000). Before then, he was at Virginia Military Institute for four seasons, first as running backs coach before later coaching quarterbacks and receivers. Sherman was also the Keydets' passing game coordinator.

He was wide receivers coach at Methodist College from 1992-93 after a year as a student assistant at his alma mater, Ferrum College, where he played wide receiver from 1988-90.
Narduzzi was hired by Pittsburgh last month after eight seasons as Michigan State’s defensive coordinator. His units, lauded for their toughness, were among the nation’s stingiest during his tenure.
Under Narduzzi, the Spartans were the only team to rank in the nation’s top 10 in total defense and rushing defense annually from 2011-14. His defense at Michigan State this past season ranked eighth in the FBS in total defense (315.8 yards per game) and third in takeaways (34).
Narduzzi replaces Paul Chryst, who had a 19-19 record in three seasons and left last month for Wisconsin.
