Valparaiso cruises against Youngstown State 77-62

YOUNGSTOWN, Ohio (AP) Alec Peters scored 18 points and grabbed six rebounds to lead Valparaiso to a 77-62 victory over Youngstown State on Tuesday night.

Jubril Adekoya added 14 points off the bench, and Tevonn Walker finished with 13 points and five boards for the Crusaders (18-3, 5-1 Horizon League), who have won five straight. It's their third such streak of at least five consecutive wins or more this season.

Valparaiso led 34-25 at the half, helped by a 16-7 run midway through, and shot 54.9 percent from the field including 10 of 16 from beyond the 3-point arc.

Osandai Vaughn scored 17 points to lead Youngstown State (9-13, 0-7). The Penguins were plagued by poor shooting for much of the night, finishing at just 35.7 percent.

The win was Valparaiso's fifth straight against Youngstown State. They are 15-2 against the Penguins since joining the Horizon League.
