Ryan Newsome, a wide receiver prospect from Aledo, Texas, announced on Friday that he has verbally committed to UCLA.

Newsome had reportedly narrowed his options to the Bruins and Texas.

The 5-foot-9, 175-pounder drew scholarship offers from more than 40 programs, including Alabama, Florida State and Notre Dame.

Newsome spoke with BruinSportsReport.com about his decision.

"Man, it just felt like home," Newsome said. "I felt something that was different. Something that was different and that I felt will be pretty cool just going against the grain from what everybody thought would happen." [...]

"The relationship I have with those coaches went far beyond the relationship I had with any others," Newsome said. "They always made me a priority in their class and they told me they were going to make me a priority ever since they offered me in my junior year. So it meant a lot to me for them to stick to it. They never wavered one bit and that really meant a lot to me."

Newsome is the No. 47 wide receiver in the class of 2015, according to the recruiting service Rivals.com.

He is the second wide receiver in the class of 2015 to commit to the Bruins, joining four-star prospect L.J. Reed.

UCLA's 2015 recruiting class, which now counts 17 members, is ranked 18th in the country by Rivals.com.
