Holy Cross surges ahead at the half, beats Navy 76-65

WORCESTER, Mass. (AP) Malachi Alexander scored 17 points after shooting 10 of 13 at the free-throw line to lead Holy Cross in a 76-65 victory over Navy on Saturday.

Navy (7-13, 3-5 Patriot League) took an 11-point lead midway through the first half but was held to just six points in the final 6 minutes before the break. Justin Burrell hit a deep 3-pointer at the buzzer to give Holy Cross a 38-31 lead at intermission.

Tilman Dunbar made a layup for the Midshipmen's only points in the first 7:50 of the second half, and the Crusaders led by 19 with 13 minutes left to play.

Malcolm Miller added 15 points on 6-of-10 shooting, and Burrell chipped in 12 for Holy Cross (8-10, 3-5), which shot 58.1 percent from the floor.

Brandon Venturini scored 16 points for Navy - 14 of those in the first half - and finished with four 3-pointers.
