NJIT uses late surge to beat South Alabama 72-55

MOBILE, Ala. (AP) Daquan Holiday had 10 points with 10 rebounds and NJIT came back to beat South Alabama 72-55 on Sunday.

South Alabama had an 11-point lead midway through the first half and built a 31-24 advantage at the break. Holiday scored five straight points to give NJIT a 51-50 lead with 8:54 to play, and sparked a 26-5 run to seal it for the Highlanders (12-10).

Tim Coleman hit four 3-pointers and finished with 20 points. Damon Lynn added 20 points, including 6 of 16 from distance for NJIT.

Dionte Ferguson had 12 points with 12 rebounds to lead South Alabama (6-14). Taishaun Johnson scored 12 points, Ken Williams added 10, and Abdul Lewis had nine points and grabbed 10 boards. The Jaguars outrebounded the Highlanders 46-38, but shot just 19 of 64 (29.7 percent) from the field.
