Prairie View A&M fends off Mississippi Valley State 72-65

GREENWOOD, Miss. (AP) Montrael Scott scored 18 points with 10 rebounds, leading five players into double-figure scoring as Prairie View A&M held off Mississippi Valley State 72-65 Saturday night in a game that saw six lead changes and three ties.

Scott knocked in 6 of 17 from the field with a 3-pointer. Karim York sank 7 of 8 shots for 14 points, Tre Hagood added 13, Zachary Hamilton and Reggis Onwukamuche added 10 apiece for the Panthers (5-14, 3-3 Southwestern Athletic Conference).

DeAngelo Priar led the Delta Devils (2-17, 1-5) with 14 points, Isaac Williams added 13 and Jabari Alex 10. Five times in the second half MVSU pulled within a basket, closing to 66-64 with 1:33 left before Prairie View pulled away on a 6-1 clip to finish.

Hagood had five assists and five steals for the Panthers, who outscored MVSU 29-19 off turnovers and 46-38 in the paint.
