UNC-Wilmington defeats Towson 69-65

WILMINGTON, N.C. (AP) Cedrick Williams netted a double-double, scoring 22 points and grabbing 14 rebounds to lead UNC Wilmington to a 69-65 victory over Towson on Saturday night.

Addison Spruill added 18 points and four rebounds for the Seahawks (11-8, 6-2 Colonial Athletic Association). Craig Ponder scored 12.

The Seahawks took an early first-period lead and held it to a 31-22 advantage at the break.

Towson closed to within one, 41-40, on a 3-pointer by Four McGlynn early in the second period but the Seahawks opened it up again on an 11-2 run capped by a dunk from Ponder to lead 52-42 with 10:56 to play. The Tigers (9-12, 2-6) battled back to tie it 62-62 with 1:43 remaining but a jumper by Ponder and a flurry of free throws in the final minute gave the Seahawks the edge.

John Davis led the Tigers with 26 points and 11 rebounds.
