2nd half lifts Cal Poly past UC Riverside, 68-49

SAN LUIS OBISPO, Calif. (AP) Joel Awich and Michael Bolden hit back-to-back 3-pointers to kick-start the second half as Cal Poly ran away from UC Riverside for a 68-49 Big West Conference victory Saturday night.

The Mustangs romped through the second half on a 44-25 run.

Cal Poly (10-8, 3-3 Big West) now has won two straight after snapping a three-game skid with a 66-55 win over Cal State Fullerton Thursday. Cal Poly has won six straight at home against Riverside.

Reese Morgan scored 14 points on 9 of 10 shooting from the free throw line to lead Cal Poly. Awich added 11 points and grabbed 11 boards and Ridge Shipley added 10 points.

Riverside (9-11, 2-4) got a 19-point performance from Taylor Johns, with Jaylen Bland and Steven Thornton adding 11 and 10 points, respectively.

Cal Poly allows the fewest points per game of any Big West program and ranks No. 22 nationally.
