Coppin State beats North Carolina A&T 84-71

GREENSBORO, N.C. (AP) Sterling Smith hit six 3-pointers and tied his career-high with 24 points as Coppin State beat North Carolina A&T 84-71 on Monday night.

Smith was 6 of 11 from behind the arc to help Copping State connect on 11 of 26 shots from distance.

It was Coppin State's third straight game with double-digit 3-point makes and its 14th with at least nine.

Dallas Gary added 18 points, Christian Kessee 13 and Shomari Triggs 10 for Coppin State (3-17, 2-5 Mid-Eastern Athletic Conference). Taariq Cephas had six points, seven rebounds and eight assists for the Eagles.

Bruce Beckford led North Carolina A&T (5-17, 2-6) with 18 points and 10 rebounds. Ahmad Abdullah had 12 points and Khary Doby 11 as the Aggies lost its third straight game at home for the first time since the 2005-06 season.
