Utah State powers past Wyoming, 56-44

LOGAN, Utah (AP) David Collette scored 16 points on 7-of-10 shooting to lead Utah State past Wyoming 56-44 on Tuesday night.

Chris Smith added 13 points for the Aggies (12-8, 5-3 Mountain West Conference).

The Aggies started the second half on a 9-0 run; extending their lead to 38-26 with 15:15 to play after Darius Perkins nailed a 16-foot jumper. Trailing by 14 with 6:10 to play, Wyoming scored seven consecutive points, highlighted by a 3-point shot by Riley Grabau and a jumper by Larry Nance Jr. But the Cowboys managed just one field goal in the final four minutes.

In the second half, Wyoming shot just 31.8 percent from the field, while Utah State shot 50 percent.

The Cowboys (17-4, 6-2 MWC) were led by Grabau's 16 points, 15 of them coming on 3-point shots, and Nance's 14 points and game-high six rebounds.
