North Carolina A&T beats Savannah State 62-59

SAVANNAH, Ga. (AP) Ahmad Abdullah scored 17 points, Steven Burrough added 15 points with five blocks, and North Carolina A&T beat Savannah State 62-59 on Saturday night.

Burrough blocked Savannah State's Terel Hall with four seconds left and Abdullah made 1 of 2 free throws to cap the scoring with two seconds left.

James Whitaker made 1 of 2 free throws for NC A&T (6-17, 3-6 Mid-Eastern Athletic Conference) with 20 seconds left after Javaris Jenkins connected on a 3-pointer two seconds earlier to pull Savannah State (5-16, 1-6) within 60-59.

Jenkins also scored on a 3-pointer and three free throws in the previous two possessions, nearly erasing by himself the 58-50 lead NC A&T had with 55 seconds left.

NC A&T trailed most of the first half but took control with 10 straight points to open the second and stretched to a 51-41 lead.

Jenkins finished with 11 points for Savannah State.
