Florida Gulf Coast beats Northern Kentucky 74-64

FORT MYERS, Fla. (AP) Brett Comer scored 24 points and Florida Gulf Coast rolled to a 74-64 victory over Northern Kentucky on Saturday night for its fifth straight win.

Florida Gulf Coast (16-7, 6-1 Atlantic Sun) moves into a first-place tie in the conference with North Florida (14-10, 6-1).

Comer scored 11 points in the first half to help Florida Gulf Coast build a 44-31 halftime lead. The Eagles stretched their lead to 11-points in the second before Deontae Cole hit a 3-pointer, sparking an 8-2 surge to pull the Norse within 62-57 with 4:18 to play. Comer answered with back-to-back layups and the Eagles cruised from there.

Comer shot 8 of 18 from the floor. Bernard Thompson scored 15 points and Julian DeBose and Christian Terrell chipped in 10 apiece for Florida Gulf Coast.

Tayler Persons scored 20 points to lead Northern Kentucky (9-13, 3-4).
