Rece Davis will replace Chris Fowler on College GameDay

Rece Davis will replace Chris Fowler as the host of ESPN's College GameDay, James Andrew Miller, author of the ESPN oral history Those Guys Have All the Fun, reports. 

Fowler has hosted the show since 1990. In 2014, he replaced Brent Musberger as the play-by-play announcer of ABC's college football games on Saturday nights, with GameDay analyst Kirk Herbstreit serving as the color commentator.

In the event ABC's game was in a different city than GameDay, Fowler and Herbstreit would have to fly to the site of the game after doing GameDay in the morning.

Davis is the lead studio host of ESPN's college football coverage, hosting pregame, halftime and postgame coverage, as well as College Football Final at the company's Bristol headquarters. He also hosts the basketball edition of College GameDay.
