Coastal stings High Point 65-60 for 7-way tie atop Big South

CONWAY, S.C. (AP) Warren Gillis scored 17 points to lead Coastal Carolina's 65-60 comeback win over High Point on Friday, leaving both teams locked in a seven-way tie atop the Big South.

Gillis gave the Chanticleers (17-7, 8-4) their first lead since the opening minutes at 57-56 on a steal and breakaway dunk with 2:22 left. It came during an 11-0 run that ended at 60-56 on Shivaughn Wiggins' free throws 46 seconds later.

Adam Weary pulled High Point (17-7, 8-4) within two with 34 seconds, but Coastal Carolina made 5 of 6 free throws from there.

High Point had its largest lead at 42-30 with 14:20 left, but Coastal Carolina erased the deficit with a 17-5 run to get to 49-all. High Point pulled back in front with seven straight points, including an alley-oop from Weary to John Brown.

Weary had 19 points and Brown 18 to lead the Panthers.
