Albany wins 11th straight, beats UMass-Lowell 69-59

ALBANY, N.Y. (AP) Evan Singletary scored 18 points, including five straight in the closing minutes, to help Albany win its 11th game in a row, 69-59 over Massachusetts-Lowell on Saturday night.

Ray Sanders and Sam Rowley scored 12 apiece and Rowley added 11 rebounds for Albany (16-7, 11-0 America East), which squandered most of a 17-point, second-half lead before holding on for the win.

UMass-Lowell (10-14, 4-7) trimmed its deficit to 58-57 when Matt Harris hit a 3, but Rowley made 1 of 2 free throws and Singletary hit a 3-pointer from the left wing to push the lead to five with fewer than two minutes remaining. His driving bucket made it 64-57 and the Great Danes held on from there.

Albany made 8 of 14 from 3-point range in the first half and took a 40-25 lead into the break.

Chad Holley led the River Hawks with 17 points.
