Northern Colorado outlasts Southern Utah 84-80

CEDAR CITY, Utah (AP) Tevin Svihovec scored 21 points, Cameron Michael added 20 and Northern Colorado outlasted Southern Utah 84-80 on Saturday.

Northern Colorado (12-10, 7-4 Big Sky) led most of the first half, but Southern Utah's Tyler Rawson tied it at 28 with 2:45 left in the half and Trey Kennedy's 3-pointer gave the Thunderbirds a 31-29 advantage at the break.

The Bears re-took the lead early in the second half on a 9-2 run, including Michael's 3-pointer, which made it 41-37 five minutes in. NCU was up 11 with 6:13 left when Southern Utah scored eight straight to make it a three-point game.

But Cody Davis hit a jumper next time down and Tim Huskisson's three-point play on the next possession made it 70-62 with 2:42 left and NCU made 12 of 18 free throws in the remaining time. Huskisson finished with 14 points and eight boards.

A.J. Hess led Southern Utah (5-16, 2-8) with 18 points.
