Eastern Kentucky beats Tennessee State 77-72

RICHMOND, Ky. (AP) Timmy Knipp scored a career-high 23 points and hit 6 of 8 3-pointers to lead Eastern Kentucky to a 77-72 win over Tennessee State on Saturday, ending the Tigers' two-game winning streak.

Corey Walden scored 22 and Eric Stutz added 16 for the Colonels (14-9, 6-4 Ohio Valley Conference).

Xavier Richards scored five points in Tennessee State's opening 10-6 run, but the Colonels replied with a 16-5 run in which Knipp hit three 3-pointers and led 42-30 at halftime.

The Tigers gained ground on a 7-2 run to pull within 53-48, then Marcus Roper's jumper drew them within two. But Knipp hit his sixth 3-pointer to spark an 11-3 run and the Colonels pulled away 68-58. Roper tied it at 72 with a 3 with 39 seconds left, but he fouled Walden, who made both free throws.

Roper scored a career-high 32, including seven 3s, for the Tigers (5-20, 2-8), Richards scored 16, and Jay Harris added 12.
