Hill, Gill lead New Orleans past McNeese State 81-71

NEW ORLEANS (AP) Christavious Gill and Kevin Hill scored 21 points apiece to help New Orleans beat McNeese State 81-71 on Monday.

Gill hit all four of his 3-point attempts and was 8-of-10 shooting overall. Hill hit 6 of 11 field goals and made 9 of 11 free throws.

Nate Frye added 12 points for New Orleans (7-13, 3-8 Southland). The Privateers made 58.7 percent of their shots, including 5 of 8 from 3-point range.

Gill made all five of his shots in the first half to help New Orleans build 35-30 lead. The Privateers made 12 of 21 shots, but had 10 turnovers to keep it close.

Desharick Guidry and Keelan Garrett both scored 20 points for McNeese State (9-13, 3-8). Guidry made all seven of his free throws and grabbed nine rebounds, and Garrett was 5 of 8 from distance. Shaun Johnson hit three 3-pointers and finished with 12 points.
