Iona blows out Fairfield, 72-57

BRIDGEPORT, Conn. (AP) Schadrac Casimir and Kelvin Amayo each scored 19 points to lead Iona to a 72-57 victory over Fairfield on Tuesday night.

David Laury added 17 points and grabbed 13 rebounds, and A.J. English had nine points, eight boards, and six assists for Iona (19-6, 12-2 Metro-Atlantic Athletic Conference), which extended its home winning streak to 18 games.

Laury entered the game ranked fifth in Division I in scoring (21.2 ppg) and combined with English (20.1 ppg), form the number one scoring duo in the country.

The Gaels never trailed and led 38-22 at halftime, helped by a 20-8 stretch midway through the first period. They would push their lead as high as 26 late in the second half.

Mike Kirkland Jr. scored 23 points and grabbed 13 rebounds to lead Fairfield (6-18, 4-10), who hit only 5 of 31 3-point attempts.
