Colgate hangs on for 76-69 win over Boston University

BOSTON (AP) Damon Sherman-Newsome scored 19 points, including four 3-pointers, to lift Colgate to a 76-69 win over Boston University on Wednesday night.

Luke Roh contributed 15 points to go with eight rebounds and Ethan Jacobs added 12 points for Colgate (12-14, 9-4 Patriot League), which shot 50.9 percent from the floor on 53 attempts to win its second straight and remain in a two-way tie atop the conference.

The Raiders battled back from a 29-16 deficit in the first half, getting 3-pointers from Sean O'Brien and Alex Ramon during an 11-2 run, and trailed by just three at the break. Late in the second half, Austin Tillotson sank back-to-back buckets to make it 59-55 and put Colgate ahead for good with 5:53 left.

Eric Fanning led BU (10-14, 6-7) with 19 points, Justin Alston added 14 and Nathan Dieudonne had 10 points and 10 rebounds. Cheddi Mosely also had 10 points.
