VMI hits 24 3-pointers in 93-59 rout of Furman

LEXINGTON, Ky. (AP) Brian Brown scored 29 points and VMI knocked down 24 3-pointers in a 93-59 rout of Furman Thursday night.

Brown tied a school-record by hitting 9 3-pointers (on 14 attempts) and the Keydets were 24 of 45 from distance (53.3 percent) to match a school record for made 3-pointers in a game. Seven shooters converted at least one 3-pointer. VMI scored just nine 2-point field goals in the game.

The teams were tied at halftime, 38-38, but VMI blew the game open by knocking down nine consecutive 3-pointers. Brown converted a 3-pointer on four consecutive possessions. VMI matched Iona's 24 3-pointers against Delaware State for the most by a Division I team this season.

Tim Marshall finished with 25 points for VMI (9-16, 5-9 Southern), converting 7 of 15 shots from deep. The Keydets were 33 of 62 from the field (52.3 percent)

Kris Acox scored 14 points to lead Furman (7-17, 4-9).
