SANTA BARBARA, Calif. (AP) Michael Bryson had 21 points and nine rebounds Thursday night and UC Santa Barbara closed with a burst to beat Long Beach State 70-55.

Zalmico Harmon and Gabe Vincent hit back-to-back 3s and accounted for 10 straight points to spark Santa Barbara's 16-4 run in the final 4:30. Vincent finished with 13 points and John Green 10.

UCSB (12-11, 5-4 Big West) took control midway through the second half, stretching a one-point lead to 47-37 over a four-minute stretch.

Michael Caffey pulled Long Beach State within 54-51 on a 3-pointer, but the 49ers (13-13, 7-3) would get no closer in losing its second in a row. McKay LaSalle had 13 of his 18 points in the second half.

Santa Barbara improved to 4-2 without its leading scorer and rebounder, Alan Williams, since he injured his left shoulder in practice on Jan. 20.
