Massachusetts-Lowell holds off Hartford 69-63

LOWELL, Mass. (AP) Kerry Weldon scored 15 points and grabbed seven rebounds to lead Massachusetts-Lowell to a 69-63 win over Hartford on Saturday to snap a two-game losing streak.

Matt Harris added 13 points on 6-of-9 shooting and DJ Mlachnik had nine points with two 3-pointers for the River Hawks (11-15, 5-8 American East), who made half of their 46 field goal attempts.

Justin Graham finished with 14 points and five rebounds and Mark Nwakamma had 11 and nine for Hartford (12-13, 5-7).

Nwakamma converted a three-point play at 7:29 to pull Hartford within 47-44 but Weldon scored the last 10 point as Massachusetts-Lowell responded with a 14-4 run to lead 61-48 with 2:27. The River Hawks, who started 5 of 15 from the foul line, scored their last 10 points on free throws, going 10-14 in the last 2:47 to finish 15-29.
