Tabb leads Alabama A&M over Alabama State 80-71

MONTGOMERY, Ala. (AP) Ladarius Tabb scored 24 points and grabbed 11 rebounds to lead Alabama A&M to an 80-71 win over Southwestern Athletic Conference-leading Alabama State on Saturday.

Nicholas West had 15 points and nine rebounds and Rakiya Battle finished with 14 and eight assists for Alabama A&M (7-15, 6-6).

Jamel Waters notched a career-high 29 points and four assists and DeMarcus Robinson added 10 for Alabama State (14-7, 10-2). Waters scored 18 of his 29 points in the first half.

Up four at halftime, Alabama A&M began the second by scoring 18 of the first 25 points to push the lead to 15. Alabama State trailed by double-digits until the final minute, when Maurice Strong twice cut the Hornets' deficit to nine.

The Bulldogs made 22 of 34 free throws while Alabama State shot 16 of 23 from the line.
