Harvard smothers Cornell for 61-40 win

CAMBRIDGE, Mass. (AP) Steve Moundou-Missi scored 12 points, Wesley Saunders had eight points - all in the second half - 11 rebounds and five assists and the Harvard defense limited Cornell to just 16 second-half points in a 61-40 win on Saturday night.

Siyani Chambers and Corbin Miller had 10 points apiece for Harvard (17-5, 7-1 Ivy League).

Cornell (12-12, 4-4) made just six first-half field goal attempts, but hit 11 of 12 free throws to take a 24-21 lead into halftime.

Five-straight points by Saunders to open the second half sparked a 24-2 run by the Crimson, which made 12 of 22 (54.5 percent) field goals, including 7 of 13 from 3-point range, after the break and led by as many as 26.

Shonn Miller led Cornell, which shot just 23.9 percent overall, with 10 points on 1-of-10 shooting.
