Hampton, Cornish help Morgan State upset Norfolk State 73-70

BALTIMORE (AP) Andrew Hampton hit five 3-pointers and scored 17 points - both career highs - and Cliff Cornish hit two free throws and blocked a shot in the final seconds to help Morgan State upset Norfolk State 73-70 on Saturday.

Hampton, a sophomore walk-on, had played just 28 minutes and scored nine points all season before hitting 6 of 7 field goals, including 5 of 6 from 3-point range.

Cedric Blossom scored 19 for Morgan State (7-18, 5-6 Mid-Eastern). Emmanuel Matey had seven points and eight assists.

Jamel Fuentes made a layup and Jeff Short hit two free throws to give Norfolk State (16-11, 9-3) a one-point lead with 55 seconds left.

Cornish made a pair of free throws to give Morgan State a 71-70 lead with 28 seconds to play before blocking a layup by Short. Blake Bozeman was fouled after grabbing the rebound and his two free throws closed the scoring.

Short led Norfolk State with 17 points.
