Temple hires ex-Falcons QB coach Glenn Thomas to same position
Former Atlanta Falcons quarterbacks coach Glenn Thomas is joining Temple in the same role according to a source.
Thomas, 37, spent the past three seasons coaching the Falcons’ quarterbacks, helping Matt Ryan to the Pro Bowl twice. Before that, Thomas was the team’s offensive assistant for four seasons.
With the addition of Thomas, Temple offensive coordinator Marcus Satterfield will now also coach running backs instead of quarterbacks according to the source. Running backs coach Tyree Foreman, who had been with the Owls since 2007, was not retained per the source.
Prior to the NFL, Thomas was an assistant at Midwestern State from 2001-07. He was the program’s offensive coordinator his final three seasons after being a graduate assistant the first four.
Thomas got his start in coaching as a student assistant at his alma mater, Texas Tech, from 1998 through 2001. Thomas’ hiring is the second change to Temple coach Matt Rhule’s offensive staff.
Last week, former North Carolina State wide receivers coach Frisman Jackson joined the Owls in the same capacity. He replaced Adam DiMichele, who moved to an off-field role after coaching the program’s wide receivers for the first time this past season.
Temple had an impressive 6-6 record this past year under the rising Rhule, who is entering his third season. The Owls return nearly 20 starters, including starting junior quarterback P.J. Walker and senior linebacker Tyler Matakevich, a first-team American Athletic Conference selection.
