BALTIMORE (AP) Brian Darden scored a career-high 23 points and Hampton crushed Morgan State 93-65 on Monday.

Darden hit a 3-pointer on the first possession of the game, made another two minutes later and a third to make it 13-10 just over five minutes in. Hampton (11-14, 7-5 Mid-Eastern) then went on a 20-0 run to take control over the game, and the Pirates led 52-20 at the break. Morgan State made just three field goals after the five minute mark of the first.

Morgan State made an 8-0 run midway through the second half - all by Rasean Simpson - that cut the deficit to 66-41, but Hampton turned around and scored 14 of the next 17, six by Charles Wilson-Fisher, to go up 81-44 with 8:15 left. Wilson-Fisher, a sparingly-played freshman, finished with eight points, a career-high. Hampton had 12 of 14 players score in the contest.

Reginald Johnson had 13 points while Deron Powers and Dwight Meikle added 10 apiece.

Simpson led Morgan State (7-19, 5-7) with 23 points and eight rebounds.
