Deon Jones leads Monmouth (NJ) past St. Peter's 63-58

JERSEY CITY, N.J. (AP) Deon Jones scored a season-high 23 points to help Monmouth (NJ) beat Saint Peter's 63-58 on Thursday night for its fourth consecutive win.

Justin Robinson added 11 points and Max DiLeo scored 10 for Monmouth (16-12, 12-6 Mid-Atlantic Athletic Conference), which avenged 62-61 overtime loss to Saint Peter's on Jan. 14.

Jones gave Monmouth a 57-48 cushion when he hit a pair of free throws with 42 seconds left.

A 3-pointer by Desi Washington and, after a turnover by DiLeo, two free throws by Jamel Fields pulled Saint Peter's (13-15, 7-10) within four just 14 seconds later.

Monmouth made 6 of 6 from the stripe in the final 27 seconds to seal it.

Washington led Saint Peter's with 17 points while Quadir Welton added 11 and Marvin Dominque scored 10.

Saint Peter's held a 10-9 advantage on the offensive glass, but Monmouth outscored the Peacocks 15-8 in second-chance points.
