Niagara holds off late Fairfield barrage, 55-53

BRIDGEPORT, Conn. (AP) Dominique Reid and Wesley Myers combined to score 27 points and Niagara survived a late barrage of 3-pointers by Fairfield for a 55-53 win Thursday night.

Reid scored on a layup and knocked down a pair of free throws in the final minute, and Myers was 4 for 4 from the free throw line to hold off the Stags, who got two 3s from Marcus Gilbert, including one at the buzzer to create the final margin, and 3s from Steve Smith and Tyler Nelson in the final 1:32.

Reid finished with 14 points and 11 rebounds and Myers added another 13 points for the Purple Eagles (5-21, 4-13 Metro Atlantic).

Gilbert finished with 20 points to lead Fairfield (6-21, 4-13), knocking down 4 of 11 attempts from beyond the arc. Nelson added another 13 points. Collectively the Stags were 10 of 29 from beyond the arc.
