Old Dominion beats Southern Miss 64-38

NORFOLK, Va. (AP) Trey Freeman had 18 points, Aaron Bacote added 10 and Old Dominion pulled away in the second half for a 64-38 victory over Southern Miss on Thursday.

Jonathan Arledge scored all eight of his points to spark a 24-4 run for Old Dominion (19-6, 8-5 Conference USA), starting early in the second half. The burst stretched a one-point Monarchs lead to 48-27. Southern Miss (7-18, 2-12) never recovered, trailing by at least 20 points the rest of the way.

The Golden Eagles opened the second half with two straight field goals to get within 24-23, but then made just one field goal over the next 11:40 while ODU pulled away.

Chip Armelin had 15 points and Matt Bingaya added 11 points and nine boards for Southern Miss, which had its second lowest scoring output of the season.
