UNC Wilmington beats Towson 73-69 to remain atop CAA

TOWSON, Md. (AP) Addison Spruill scored 26 points to lead UNC Wilmington to a 73-69 victory over Towson on Saturday.

UNC Wilmington (16-11, 11-5 Colonial Athletic Association) bounced back after losing to Delaware 70-59 on Thursday night, and remains in first place in the CAA.

Towson led 56-55 with 4:58 remaining. Wilmington answered with a 5-0 surge before the Tigers tied it at 61 with 2:10 left. Spruill scored four points and Jordon Talley shot 6 of 6 from the line to give the Seahawks a 71-67 lead with 10 seconds left. Towson's John Davis scored a layup, and Spruill made pair of free throws to seal it.

Spruill was 8 of 16 from the floor and 10 of 11 from the line. Craig Ponder added 11 points and Talley finished with 10.

Mike Morsell had 19 points to lead Towson (12-17, 5-11).
