Duke: Okafor to miss Clemson game with ankle injury

DURHAM, N.C. (AP) Freshman center Jahlil Okafor did not play in No. 4 Duke's 78-56 victory over Clemson on Saturday because of a sprained left ankle.

Coach Mike Krzyzewski said after the game that ''there's nothing structurally wrong'' with Okafor's ankle but ''we're hoping he'll be ready by Wednesday'' when the Blue Devils (24-3, 11-3 Atlantic Coast Conference) visit Virginia Tech.

Team officials announced Okafor's status about an hour before the game. He watched from the bench wearing a sportcoat and a walking boot protecting the ankle, leaving the Blue Devils with only seven scholarship players.

Okafor injured his ankle late in the first half of a 92-90 overtime win over rival North Carolina on Wednesday night. He landed awkwardly after a hook shot but only spent about a minute off the court before returning to the bench.

He played all 25 minutes of the second half and overtime, finishing with 12 points and 13 rebounds.

Okafor has scored in double figures in all 26 games he's played and leads the team with averages of 17.2 points, 10 rebounds and a .633 shooting percentage.
