Columbia knocks off Yale 56-50

NEW HAVEN, Conn. (AP) Maodo Lo scored 18 points and hauled in six rebounds Saturday night to lead Columbia to a 56-50 win over Yale, knocking the Bulldogs out of first place in the Ivy League.

Cory Osetkowski added 10 points, including 6-for-6 shooting from the free throw line, for Columbia (13-11, 5-5), which held a 14-7 edge in made free throws to avenge its Jan. 30 loss to Yale.

The Lions took the lead for good with a 12-0 run capped by 3-pointers from Nate Hickman and Kyle Castlin that made it 26-14 with 5:39 left before the break. Yale (19-8, 8-2) cut it to 44-41 in the second with a 9-0 spurt before Luke Petrasek hit a 3-pointer at the other end and Lo sank a pair of free throws to rebuild Columbia's advantage.

Javier Duren had 13 points and Matt Townsend 11 for Yale, which now is a game behind conference leader Harvard.
