Venturini scores 17, Navy beats Holy Cross 84-70

ANNAPOLIS, Md. (AP) Brandon Venturini had 17 points, six rebounds and six assists to lead Navy over Holy Cross 84-70 on Sunday.

Navy (11-17, 7-9 Patriot) pushed a six-point lead to 78-66 with a 10-4 run capped by Shawn Anderson's basket with 2:18 left.

The Midshipmen led by 13 at the break and shot 57.7 percent in the second half. Navy had its largest lead at 55-38, but Holy Cross (11-15, 6-10) rallied to within 68-62 on Malcom Miller's 3-pointer with 4:40 to go.

Navy opened to a 19-10 lead, never trailed and pulled away late in the first half with an 11-2 run.

Anderson finished with 13 points and six rebounds. Tilman Dunbar scored 12, Will Kelly added 11 and Worth Smith 10.

Cullen Hamilton had 18 points and Robert Champion had 15 to lead the Crusaders.
