Peters, Sam Houston State beat Central Arkansas, 70-42

CONWAY, Ark. (AP) Jabari Peters scored 10 of his 14 points in the first half and Sam Houston State cruised to a 70-42 win over Central Arkansas on Saturday.

Sam Houston State (22-5, 13-1 Southland Conference), which won its eighth-consecutive game, opened with an 8-0 run and, after scoring another eight in a row, led 20-3 with 10:56 left in the first half.

Central Arkansas (1-23, 1-12) trailed by 23 at the break and Jordan Howard scored 11 of the Bears' 17 first-half points on 5-of-8 shooting. The rest of the team made 2 of 17 (11.8 percent) field goals before halftime.

DeMarcus Gatlin, Kaheem Ransom and Jamal Williams scored nine points apiece for Sam Houston State, which converted 22 Central Arkansas turnovers - including 16 steals by the Bearkats - into 29 points.

Howard led the Bears, who made just 16 of 48 (33.3 percent) field goals, with 13 points.
