FGCU wins 10th straight with 86-72 victory over USC Upstate

FORT MYERS, Fla. (AP) Brett Comer had 22 points and nine assists on Saturday and Florida Gulf Coast won its 10th straight, rolling past South Carolina Upstate 86-72.

Bernard Thompson scored 19 points, including 5-of-5 shooting from 3-point range. FGCU coach Joe Dooley earned his 100th career win as the Eagles (21-7, 11-1 Atlantic Sun) stayed one game ahead of North Florida in the conference standings.

Florida Gulf Coast's 86 points were a season high with Julian DeBose adding 13 points and Jamail Jones 11.

USC Upstate (20-9, 7-5) trailed by 10 at the break, but FGCU opened the second half with a 14-3 burst to lead 58-37 with 15:36 to go. The Spartans got no closer than 14 points when ShunQuez Stephens capped the scoring.

Ty Greene led Upstate with 31 points, his second 30-point game of the season. Fred Miller added 12.
