Carr scores 21 as SIU-Edwardsville beats UT-Martin 76-68

EDWARDSVILLE, Ill. (AP) C.J. Carr scored a career-high 21 points and Kris Davis added 19 as SIU-Edwardsville knocked off Tennessee-Martin 76-68 Saturday night, cementing its hold on the final playoff berth in the Ohio Valley Conference's west division.

The game was close - featuring five ties and 12 lead changes - until the freshman Carr forced the final tie at 2:54 with a pair of free throws, sparking a 9-1 run for SIU-Edwardsville (12-14, 8-7). Keaton Jackson and Rozell Nunn combined for four free throws and Davis knocked in a 3-pointer as the Cougars led 72-66 with 35 seconds remaining.

UT-Martin (17-10, 9-5) remains a distant second in the OVC West behind unbeaten Murray State (24-4, 14-0). The Skyhawks had come in winners of their last two games but were hurt by 19 fouls. SIU-Edwardsville made 14 of 21 at the line to UT-Martin's 4 of 8.

Alex Anderson led UT-Martin with 17 points.
