Winthrop crushes Longwood 83-59

FARMVILLE, Va. (AP) Keon Johnson led four in double figures with 16 points and Winthrop crushed Longwood 83-59 on Saturday.

Johnson was 5 of 5 from the floor as Winthrop (16-11, 11-5 Big South) won for the fifth time in six games. Keon Moore had 15 points, Xavier Cooks added 11 and Tevin Prescott contributed 10 points and seven rebounds. The Eagles had a seven-point run late in the first and led 32-28 at the break.

Winthrop came out hot after intermission and used a 23-5 run - including two 3-pointers by Moore and a pair of dunks from Duby Okeke - to build a 64-40 lead with 11:16 to go and Winthrop wasn't challenged down the stretch.

Longwood (8-21, 4-12 Big South) was led by Quincy Taylor with 19 points. The Lancers were outrebounded 44-29.
