Frye, Broyles lead New Orleans past SE Louisiana, 74-73

HAMMOND, La. (AP) Nate Frye scored 17 points, and Tevin Broyles made a layup in the waning seconds to help New Orleans slip past Southeast Louisiana 74-73 on Monday night.

Southeast Louisiana (9-18, 6-8 Southland Conference) used a 14-6 run, including five points apiece by Cedric Jenkins and Daniel Grieves, to take a 73-72 lead with 18 seconds to play.

Broyles' layup three seconds later proved to be the winner as Grieves missed a potential winning layup on the other end with two seconds remaining and New Orleans' Kevin Hill snared the rebound.

Kevin Brown scored 13 points and Christavious Gill had 12 for New Orleans (8-15, 4-10).

Zay Jackson scored 15 points and Onochie Ochie had 11 for Southeast Louisiana. Devonte Upson added 10 points, nine rebounds and career-high seven blocked shots.

New Orleans shot just 39 percent - compared to Southeast Louisiana's 49 percent - but converted 22 offensive rebounds into 24 second-chance points.
