Green, Jones lead Radford past Gardner-Webb, 72-62

RADFORD, Va. (AP) Javonte Green had 21 points, a season-high 17 rebounds and four steals, and Cameron Jones scored a career-high 24 on 10-of-12 shooting to help Radford beat Gardner-Webb 72-62 on Saturday.

A 14-3 run gave Radford (21-10, 12-6 Big South) a 53-42 lead with 10:39 to play.

Two free throws apiece from Harold McBride and Jarvis Davis pulled Gardner-Webb (18-13, 10-8) within seven about three minutes later. But Radford's Jalen Carethers sandwiched a jumper and a layup around a pair of free throws by R.J. Price to make it 61-48 with 6:38 remaining and the Bulldogs trailed by at least eight the rest of the way.

Gardner-Webb's Jerome Hill scored 20 and moved into first on the school's single-season scoring list with 591. His 1,239 career points rank second in program history.

Tyrell Nelson added 15 points and eight rebounds for the Bulldogs.

Radford made 31 of 62 field goals.
