UAB holds off late-charging Middle Tennessee 100-95 in 3 OT

BIRMINGHAM, Ala. (AP) Hakeem Baxter, who had a layup at the buzzer to send the game into the third overtime, completed a three-point play with 1:50 left in that period to reclaim the lead as UAB beat back a late charge by Middle Tennessee to win 100-95 in triple overtime on Saturday.

William Lee finished just short of a triple-double with 16 points, 11 rebounds and eight blocks for UAB (16-13, 12-4 Conference USA). Chris Cokley had a career-high 20 points, Robert Brown had 18 and Baxter finished with 16.

Perrin Buford, who had career-best 29 points, drove for a layup at the 2:59 mark of the second overtime to give Middle Tennessee its first lead, 81-79, since the first half. Brown answered with a trey as UAB reclaimed the lead at the 2:13 mark.

DeVante Jones had 24 points and Reggie Upshaw Jr. added 13 for Middle Tennessee (15-14, 8-8).
