Jackson St. coasts to 73-49 win over Mississippi Valley St.

JACKSON, Miss. (AP) Raeford Worsham scored 17 points on 8-for-13 shooting and pulled down seven rebounds to propel Jackson State to a 73-49 win over Mississippi Valley State on Saturday night.

Brent Javeres sank four 3-pointers and finished with 12 points, while Janarius Middleton and Dontaveon Robinson had 10 points apiece for Jackson State (10-18, 8-7 Southwestern Athletic Conference). The Tigers hit 31 of 62 from the field and controlled the boards 44-28 to win their second straight and avenge a Jan. 31 loss to MVSU (5-24, 4-12).

Jackson State opened the game with a 14-0 run capped by back-to-back buckets from Treshawn Bolden and carried a 45-23 advantage into the break. The Tigers slowed down in the second half but still outscored MVSU by two over the final 20 minutes.

DeAngelo Priar led Mississippi Valley State with 13 points and Vacha Vaughn added 10.
