South Dakota beats South Dakota State 80-64

VERMILLION, S.D. (AP) Tre Burnette netted a double-double with 19 points and 13 rebounds as South Dakota beat Summit League leader South Dakota State 80-64 on Saturday.

Casey Kasperbauer added 17 points for the Coyotes (16-15, 9-7) and Brandon Bos had 12.

South Dakota had a 44-34 lead at the break and took it to 51-36 early in the second half on a 3-pointer by Tyler Larson and a pair of jumpers by James Hunter. South Dakota State closed to within nine points, 60-51, on a Reed Tellinghuisen 3 with 9:11 to play. But the Coyotes put it away on an 11-6 run capped by a Burnette 3-pointer to a 71-59 advantage with 4:20 remaining.

Cody Larson led the Jackrabbits (21-9, 12-4) with 25 points and 12 rebounds. South Dakota State will play No. 8 seed Omaha in the Summit tournament on March 7.
