UC Davis pulls away from Cal Poly, 68-54

SAN LUIS OBISPO, Calif. (AP) Josh Ritchart scored 19 points and UC Davis shot 56.8 percent in its final road game of the regular season to top Cal Poly 68-54 on Saturday night.

The Aggies (22-5, 12-2) are alone in first place in the Big West Conference, and clinched at least a share of the title with second-place UC Irvine's 54-51 loss to UC Santa Barbara.

UC Davis plays host to UC Riverside Thursday and UC Irvine Saturday to close out the regular season.

UC Davis took an eight-point lead at intermission, 30-22. Michael Bolden cut the lead to seven, 34-27 with a 3-pointer with 16:45 left, but the Aggies responded with an eight-point burst to make it 42-27 with 14 minutes left.

The Aggies were 25 of 44 from the field, including 8 of 17 from distance. Avery Johnson finished with 13 points and Corey Hawkins added another 12.

Ridge Shipley scored 16 points to lead Cal Poly, which shot 21 of 49 from the field (42.9 percent), including 7 of 17 from beyond the arc.
