Stephen F. Austin cruises to 83-62 win over Incarnate Word

NACOGDOCHES, Texas (AP) Thomas Walkup had 23 points, a career-high 13 rebounds and seven assists on Monday night to help Stephen F. Austin beat Incarnate Word 83-62 and maintain a one-game lead on Sam Houston State in the Southland Conference standings with two games to play.

Walkup made 12 of 12 free throws, both career highs, and had three steals and two blocked shots.

Stephen F. Austin (25-4, 15-1 Southland Conference), which closes its conference schedule at home against SHSU on Saturday, used an 11-0 run which bridged halftime to open up a 42-25 lead and Incarnate Word trailed by double figures the rest of the way.

Jacob Parker scored 14 - all after halftime - for the Lumberjacks, who made 17 of 30 (56.7 percent) second-half field goals.

Denzel Livingston scored 20 for Incarnate Word (17-9, 9-7), which is ineligible for the Southland tournament as it continues its transition to Division I.
