Abilene Christian picks up 83-71 win over Houston Baptist

ABILENE, Texas (AP) LaDarrien Williams and Parker Wentz scored 19 points each as Abilene Christian snapped a 12-game losing skid by knocking off Houston Baptist 83-71 on Tuesday night.

Abilene Christian's last win was a 95-81 victory over Northwestern State on January 13.

Williams made 8 of 11 from the floor and Wentz made 6 of his 11 attempts. Hawkins added 18 points and Jalen Little had 11 assists for Abilene Christian (10-19, 4-12 Southland Conference).

The Wildcats jumped out to an early lead, were ahead 41-26 at the break, and stretched that to 65-44 midway through the second period to coast to the win. Houston Baptist had a 12-4 run in the final 3:54 but the Huskies were too far behind.

ACU made 34 of 56 from the floor, including 7 of 14 its 3-pointers.

Jourdan Stickler had 12 points and Caleb Crayton add 11 for HBU (11-15, 6-10).
