Hofstra pulls away from James Madison 74-57, on to CAA semis

BALTIMORE (AP) Moussa Kone had 18 points and 11 rebounds, Ameen Tanksley had 16 points and fifth-seeded Hofstra knocked off fourth-seeded James Madison on Saturday in the quarterfinals of the Colonial Athletic Association tournament.

Rokas Gustys added 11 points and Juan'ya Green had 10 with eight assists for the Pride (20-12), who face top-seeded William & Mary in the semifinals on Sunday.

Ron Curry had 18 points for James Madison (19-13), which had just defeated Hofstra 82-73 last Saturday in the regular-season finale.

Dimitrije Cabarkapa scored all 12 of his points in the first half as the Dukes stayed within 39-33 at the half despite shooting 32.4 percent, including 2 of 13 from 3-point range.

In the second half Hofstra pounded the ball inside. Kone scored 12 points and Hofstra shot 55.6 percent for a 46-28 advantage on points in the paint to pull away.
