Frye guides Nicholls State past SE Louisiana 75-69

HAMMOND, La. (AP) Ja'Dante' Frye had 14 of his 21 points in the second half and Nicholls State held off a late rally from Southeastern Louisiana 75-69 in the regular-season finale for both teams on Saturday night.

Frye capped the scoring for both teams on a pair of free throws with 16 seconds left shortly after SE Louisiana pulled within four points on Daniel Grieves' three-point play.

The Colonels (10-18, 7-11 Southland) used an 11-4 run to pull ahead 59-48 on Travis Julien's jumper with 9:38 left. Nicholls State led by at least eight for the next six minutes.

Grieves' three-point play in the final minute capped a 9-2 run for the Lions (9-22, 6-12).

Amin Torres added 14 points and Sam McBeath scored 11 for Nicholls State.

Cedric Jenkins had 24 points to lead SE Louisiana. Devonte Upson added 18 points and 11 rebounds, and Grieves finished with 16.
