Portland State beats Southern Utah 86-73

CEDAR CITY, Utah (AP) Tiegbe Bamba netted a double-double, scoring 21 points and grabbing 15 rebounds as Portland State beat Southern Utah 86-73 on Saturday night in the regular season finale for both teams.

Portland State heads to the Big Sky Conference tournament quarterfinals on March 12.

DaShaun Wiggins led the scoring for the Vikings (15-13, 9-9 Big Sky Conference) with 23 points and seven rebounds and Gary Winston added 19 points and six assists. The team hit 29 of 60 (48.3 percent) from the field overall, including 6 of 15 (40 percent) from distance, and 22 of 32 (68.8 percent) from the free throw line.

Southern Utah led 36-32 at the break but Portland State rallied in the second half to take the lead and hold on for the win.

A.J. Hess and Travon Langston scored 14 points apiece for the Thunderbirds (10-19, 7-11).
